Install HonestTag: the checklist

1. Install the app

Open HonestTag on the Shopify App Store and install it on your store. HonestTag opens inside Shopify admin and adds its tracking through Shopify itself, so there is no theme code to edit.

2. Connect your ad accounts

Open the Setup tab and connect the accounts you use. For the free Mirror plan, connect any of Google Ads, Meta, Microsoft Advertising, TikTok and Criteo. HonestTag puts each platform's claimed conversions beside the first-click new customers your store recorded from it (for Criteo, that count reads 0 for now), and it sends no purchases to any ad platform.

On the Starter plan and up, the Setup tab also offers an optional DNS record that moves the tracking address to your own domain. See your own tracking domain.

3. Decide the purchase source before delivery

If another app already sends purchases to Meta, Google Ads or TikTok, pick one purchase source for each platform before HonestTag starts sending. On most platforms, HonestTag sends events under its own names, and those do not add to that platform's standard purchase count. The standard purchase event stays off until you turn it on, on that platform's card. The Meta card asks whether you use Shopify's Facebook & Instagram app and which data sharing setting it uses. If you don't use that app, or its data sharing is off, Meta's standard Purchase starts on. If data sharing is Standard, or you are not sure, Meta's standard Purchase stays off until you turn it on and confirm nothing else sends Meta purchases. If data sharing is Enhanced or Maximum, it stays off. OpenAI Ads is the exception: each purchase is sent as its standard order_created event. Read duplicate purchase events. 4. Choose a plan when you want delivery

The Mirror plan is free at any store size. On paid plans, HonestTag delivers verified web purchases to the destinations you connect among Google Ads, Meta, Klaviyo, Microsoft Advertising, TikTok, Google Analytics 4, Pinterest, Reddit and OpenAI Ads (Klaviyo only when the order carries a HonestTag visitor id or a Klaviyo click id), within that plan's simultaneous-delivery limit (the pricing page lists it). Order proof and full reporting are on paid plans and the trial too. Plans are priced by your trailing 30-day sales band and your plan's printed pageview allowance. A store's first paid plan comes with a 21-day free trial, shown on Shopify's approval screen. If delivery starts late, the trial may be extended to 7 days of live delivery data, up to 35 days in total. Plans and bands are on the pricing page.

5. What you will see, and when

• By day 3: your Google Ads and Meta spend, and your orders counted as they come in.
• By day 7: the first comparison: what each platform you connected among Google Ads, Meta, Microsoft Advertising, TikTok and Criteo claims, beside the first-click new customers your store recorded from it (for Criteo, that count reads 0 for now).
• By day 14: enough of your own ad clicks that the first-click numbers mean something.

First-click numbers start on install day. Clicks from before HonestTag was installed were never recorded, and HonestTag does not reconstruct them.

6. If you leave

Uninstalling ends billing. What happens to your data is on what happens when you uninstall HonestTag.
